The Hannakuh Celebration had been disturbed by Peter and his father argueing about the wheather the cat should be thrown away. Peter was probably enraged when his father had remarked that they were soon going to throw away the cat. Suddenly, there is a crash below suspected as a thief. Mr. Frank immediately commanded Peter to turn the lamp off. Peter tried to reach for the lamp by using the chair, but he soon looses balance. He falls down and makes a commotion that may have been heard by the thief below reveiling their secret annex. Dussel remarks by saying that they are in the greatest danger because now someone knows that they are hiding up in the secret compartment. He thinks that this person will bargain with the green police then leading to their capture

Yes Anne and Peter are almost identical to most teens today. For example they argue with their parents like on page 388 when Anne's mother argues that Anne should not talk back and be silent. Peter also argues with his family. An example is when Peter argues with his parents about throwing his cat Mouschi away because he is a burden to the party. He hates being embarassed by his parents and is very shy similar to most teenagers as well. When Peter and Anne meet at first Peter is very shy and does not greet Anne or talk to her. Peter admits that he is a loner "I'm sort of a lone wolf" pg. 377. Peter also blushes and shows is anger when his mother says that it is "okay to have a little girlfriend (pg. 383)." Teens are very shy and sensitive about girlfriend and boyfriend issues. This was one important similiarity I found in Peter.

The fear of discovery would be the hardest part of life in the Secret Annex because of the primary reason of the Secret Annex: to hide from Nazis. When the Nazis discover these people, they will be killed because the Nazis' jobs are to exterminate the Jewish population. The party of Jews in the Secret Annex were hiding because they did not want to die and other things did not matter. So simply by using logic what will be the hardest part of life? Of course the fear of being found. Once they will be found, death lies ahead. I think death is something that is most feared because you can not come back to life or at least life on Earth. Being silent and being cramped with other people can not simply compare to death because being cramped and silence are really momentary and death is permanent.

Mr. Frank breaked down and lost total control of his weaping when he saw the white gloves. I am definitely sure that they had been Anne's because on page 420/421 of the text book there is a mentioning of Anne wearing short white gloves. "She picks up a pair of short white gloves." From this clue I had inferred that these were Anne's gloves. I think the reason Mr. Frank had wept primarily was because she was his sweet daughter who had died at such a short age. It also had horrifying memories of the Nazis who had killed so much of his beloveds as well as his daughter who was so optomistic and ambitious. Well, these gloves had brought him harsh memories that had swept him completely that he cried in agony.

Theme #3

From reading this play, I think the theme is that even though the future is futile, always keep your core values and keep hoping to yourself. Mr. Frank says that there are no bolts in your mind, and Anne had hoped in God from her Judaism. This had leaded her to living out every day with hope to make her optomistic. She had something to look forward to and the thought of the invasion had been the impetus of her living the horrible life she had. There is nothing about hoping and keeping your thoughts in your mind, and this quote from her father I think had leaded to Anne living a life without great burden. I mean some people would have commited suicide or died out of extreme depression.

Prejudice

I did not know this before but when asked my dad what prejudic meant, he had said that it meant prejudging. This means that you judge something before you are aware of facts of a case. However, we do not actually use this definition when we talk about prejudice. Today, prejudice inclines to in a racial mater. We see the definition as "unreasonable attitude showing resistant racially". I have seen prejudice in my trip to Thaialnd. I was in a rural area and when I approached a store selling water, the salesman suddenly grasped me and dragged me in the store bargaining with me with wide spread eyes. He did not do this to other Thais in the store, but I think he had great expectations dragging me into the store because I was Korean. I think Korean tourists have a strong reputation of being wealthy ceratintly because this salesman was raising the price as we bargained. The effects of Prejudice are never good. This makes the other person degrading and isolated racially. For example my experience with the water salesman made me isolated and a little agravating because I was treated unfairly. I had to pay more!!

WhatI Know About the Holacaust

I know that the Holocaust is a term used to depict the genocide of millions of Jews during World War 2. This was part of a plan of immediate execution by the Nazi forces made by Adolf Hitler. However Jews were not the only ones executed. Polish, Romans, Soviet Union, and gay men were executed as well. The primary reason for this mass execution was due to the Nazis believing that the Jews were a threat to the German racial community. Germans believed they had to kill any other groups because of their racial inferiority, and thus they had an ideology that they would need to kill their alien opponent. The autobiography Anne Frank projects the hardship Anne went through as a Jew. She had to live hiding and the only thing she could do was to write in her diary. This diary is now one of the most well known books.
